Getting Your Car Serviced - A Quick Guide
Vehicle maintenance is an essential cost - especially a regular car service as it will help to ensure your car remains roadworthy and reduces the likelihood of an accident and car insurance claim.
However, a question that regularly comes up is - "how often should I service my car?" See below for a number of things to consider.
Car Service - A Few Things To Note:
• If you've bought a new car there is usually a set of guidelines on recommended service released by the manufacturer. This may be a service every few years, or after a certain mileage is reached.
• As with any car it's important to monitor and check all vital components on the regular basis - including areas such as oil and fluid levels, brakes or steering.
• It's usually recommended to take the car in for a service prior to an MOT to make sure that it's more likely to pass and could save you on repair costs in the future.
• Some motor experts recommend having a yearly small car service, with a larger service every two years.
Whilst it is possible to carry out a service yourself we strongly recommend taking it to someone with the skills, knowledge and equipment to do it for you.
It's important to remember that you could be putting your safety and that of other road users at risk if you make a mistake when servicing your own car. In addition to this - if you do have an accident as a result you will see an increase in the cost of your car insurance premium.
