Sir Stirling To Visit Donnington Historic Festival

The Donnington Historic Festival is to enjoy a visit from motoring legend, Sir Stirling Moss.

Car enthusiasts will be able to watch him drive a classic Jaguar C-Type - a car he once used to win the Reims Grand Prix back in 1952.

Back in the day it was apparently so hot, and the competition so fierce, that he was close to collapse after winning. Lofty, Jaguar's team manager at the time commented that the team actually had to help Sir Stirling to stand whilst constantly dousing him with water to keep him conscious as the National Anthem was played in his honour.

According to the festival Sir Stirling's success in the Grand Prix marked the debut-win of a car with disc-brakes. An event that marked Jaguar's reputation for innovative engineering.

The festival is due to take place on May 6th in Donnington and is expected to have a number of classic cars at the event.
