Motorists are being urged to take extra precautions following an increase in efforts by the police to reduce car crime.
Following a spate of 60 thefts over 19 days in Peterborough, officers are urging drivers to be more careful. They have issued some guidance - such as avoid leaving valuables in plain sight.
Commenting on behalf of Peterborough Police, Inspector Rob Hill said:
"We are working to reduce vehicle crime, however, we need the public's help if we are to make more of an impact. If motorists continue to leave valuable items in their cars and vans, the problem continues."
Inspector Hill added that "having your car broken into is not only costly but also time consuming. Our very strong advice is to remove all valuable items from your car."
The number of motoring thefts in Peterborough serves to highlight the importance of security for your vehicle as well as the importance of a comprehensive car insurance policy.
