The next revolution in bike bells is upon us! A device known as the "Hornster" has been released to help boost the safety of cyclists whilst on the road.
According to the developers of the device it makes a sound louder than a concorde and is designed to get the attention of car insurance holders to ensure that they are aware of cyclists on the road.
The device has been developed by the Environmental Transport Association (ETA) and uses an Airchime KH3A from an American locomotive that runs off a scuba diving cylinder.
The Hornster can reportedly be heard at 100ft and is thought to be loud enough to be heard over background city noise, 100 decibels lower than the device.
Commenting on the Hornster, Yannick Read, the brains behind the device stated:
"The same quietness that makes bicycles such a civilised way of getting around makes them vulnerable to inattentive motorists - the Hornster is a wake-up call for drivers who don't pay attention to bikes."
Whilst the device sounds like a good idea at an almost £5K retail price this may be more than most cyclists can afford.
