EU legislation for labelling new tyres is to be introduced from 1st November. The new law means that all tyres produced from November will need to display wet braking performance, fuel efficiency and exterior rolling noise.
It is believed that this could help reduce car insurance claims as a result of accidents in wet weather as performance in this area is extremely important for road safety.
By having the ability to make a more informed decision around their tyres motorists could also help to improve the vehicle's fuel economy and potentially cut down on the amount they use.
It should also be noted that by driving carefully and not exceeding speed limits the fuel economy of the vehicle could also be reduced.
The new law is to effect cars, sports utility vehicles (SUVs), vans and trucks, however, it does not apply to re-treaded or off-road professional tyres. There are other specialist tyre types, however, we recommend visiting the website to find out more.
