BMW Recalls 1.3million cars

March 27, 2012

The car manufacturer, BMW have recalled 1.3 million cars worldwide due to possible battery problems.

BMW believe that this defect is as a result of an incorrectly fitted battery cable cover. It is believed that, in extreme cases, the defect in the battery could lead to a fire.

Car insurance holders who bought series 5 and 6 models between 2003 and 2010 are being urged to take their vehicles to authorised BMW dealers for repairs.

Whilst the company have only received nine reports of the defect, with no injuries they clearly do not want to take the risk. Consequently they are offering free checks at BMW dealerships to deal with the problem

A statement released by BMW read:

"In order to carry out a quality measure, BMW is recalling all BMW 5 and 6 Series models of the previous generation, built between 2003 and 2010 and still on the market, for repair at authorised dealers."
