Motor specialist shop, Halfords has revealed that spring cleaning cars has yielded a large number of unusual objects.
The research carried out by Halfords shows that passports, wedding rings, pieces of lego, mouldy food and even false teeth have been found by British car insurance holders when cleaning out their cars.
The study, involving 1,530 motorists, was commissioned after officials at the company predicted a surge in the number of people getting around to cleaning the car, following a very wet April that left cars covered in mud and grime.
Dave Howells, the company's car cleaning expert, commented:
“It’s amazing what we find when we properly clean out the car. While we have taken a light hearted look at this there is also a serious side. Leaving food in the car creates risk of disease and the added weight means the car is burning more fuel than it needs to."
Mr Howells added that "it's also not safe to have items rolling around the car, potentially getting under pedals. Keeping the car clean also helps to maintain its value.”
