An opinion poll carried out by a car insurance comparison website* has revealed that 90% of people welcome the Government clampdown on car insurance claims for whiplash.
The Government have outlined a number of proposals to deal with whiplash claims - including assessments by an independent panel of doctors, a move that has been welcomed as many people believe the "compensation culture" has started to spiral out of control.
Perhaps more significantly - 30% of respondents also agreed with the proposed measures as they are annoyed that these claims are pushing up the cost of car insurance.
Commenting on behalf of the company a spokesman stated:
“Our poll speaks volumes about the sentiment towards this compensation culture we appear to be living in.
“The rising cost of motoring is driving families to despair over their finances and false whiplash claims add around £90 a year to a typical car insurance policy."
They added that the company fully supported the proposals to tighten rules around whiplash car insurance claims.
